I have said it once and I will say it again. If you are trying to get out of debt then you MUST get rid of the credit cards. If you’re looking to stop using credit cards, here are different strategies to help you transition.
Immediate Actions:
1. Cut Them Up – Physically destroy the cards to remove the temptation. This takes the temptation away, literally. And don’t go calling your credit card company asking for a replacement either!
2. Lock the Accounts – Many banks allow you to freeze your credit card account with their mobile app. If cutting them up is too drastic, then freeze it and uninstall the app!
3. Remove Them from Auto-Pay – Unlink them from subscriptions and online retailers. You may surprise yourself with how many subscriptions you actually have that aren’t being used. Look at all those $10-$15 line items back in your pocket. 🙂
4. Delete Saved Cards – Remove them from your phone, browser, and payment apps. This one is so easy while making a huge impact.
Take it one day at a time and learn from the mistakes that you’re going to make.
It helps to create obtainable yet inspiring goals for yourself. Pay off that credit card and save up for that vacation at the same time. You can do it!!
